Introduction
This document explains how to obtain general accounting reports, such as the balance, or the income statement. Until the 2.34 version, the general accounting reports available where fixed: the balance, and the income statement. From the 2.35 version and on, this reports can be configured completely dynamically. This means that any kind of report can be built, choosing the accounts needed, and the lines desired.
The General Accounting Report Menu
Go to Financial Management > Accounting > Analysis Tools > General Accounting Report Setup. The next window will be shown:
Here it is possible to create new general accounting reports, or modify the existing ones. The accounting reports are organized hierarchically:
As many reports as wanted can be created in Openbravo. Each report can have as many categories as needed, and each category can have as many nodes as needed. This freedom provides us the power of building reports of any kind! For example, following the US accounting system, it can be created a balance report with the next structure:
For creating this structure, follow the next steps: Click on “New”
Save and click on “Category”, and on “New”, fill up the name, save, and click on the “Node” tab, and “New” again:
Fill up the name, choose the “Account Element” –the node of the chart of accounts where information is going to be obtained for this node of the report–. Then save, go back to the Category, and create another one:
Now save, and create a new node:
And another new node:
Now, check the report that it generates: go to Financial Management > Accounting > Analysis Tools > General Accounting Report:
Fill up the year, and the accounting report. Notice that it must have some accounting information in the application if you want to obtain a valid report!
Notice that each new category of the report is shown in a new page, and all the nodes of a category are shown in the same page.
This way, you can create any accounting report you want, with its structure completely customizable!
