Installation
This module is installed once Professional Pack is installed.
Organization
An additional tab has been added to the organization window to capture "Statutory Details" required for Indian Tax Calculations.
To go to this tab, follow these steps:
1. Login as the Administrator of your client.
2. Go to General Setup -> Enterprise Model -> Organization or just type "Organization" in the Quick Launch Window.
3. Select the organization and go to Statutory Details tab.
Company Details:
- Type Of Company : that is the organization type based on incorporation (that is the creation of a corporation or the fact of giving legal form to an association by registering it as a corporation), the size and the structure of the Organization. The options available are:
- Individual/Proprietary
- Others
- Partnership
- Registered Private Limited
- Registered Public Limited
- Registered Trust
- society/Co-op. Society
- Large Taxpayer: Any taxpayer who has paid more than Rs 1 crore as excise duty during last Financial Year, needs to be qualified as “large taxpayer”, whatever may be its income-tax, corporation tax or service tax liability.
- Large Taxpayer Unit : that indicates the LTU for the organization. User can refer to the government LTU site to find out it's unit LTU
- PAN No: that is the PAN No of the organization. (PAN) is a unique alphanumeric combination issued to all juristic entities identifiable under the Indian Income Tax Act 1961. It is issued by the Indian Income Tax Department under the supervision of the Central Board for Direct Taxes (CBDT) and is almost equivalent to a national identification number. It also serves as an important ID proof.
Income Tax Details:
- Income Tax Circle/Ward No : that is the particular Circle/Ward range in which the organization needs to file tax returns with or are assessed with.
- Deductor Type : that is the Government/Others.
- TAN No : that is the "Tax Deduction" and "Collection" Account Number of the Organization.
The TAN Number is a 10 Digit Alphanumeric Number and is used as an abbreviation for Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number.
Every Assessee liable to deduct TDS is required to apply for a TAN No. and shall quote this number in all TDS Returns, TDS Payments and any other communication regarding TDS with the Income Tax Department. - Name of Person Responsible: that is the person responsible for Tax returns
- Son/Daughter of : that is the relation to the person responsible
- Designation : that is the designation of the person responsible
VAT/Sales Tax:
- CST No : that is the Central Sales Tax Number required for inter-state transfer of goods.
- TIN No : that is the Tax Payer’s Identification Number (TIN) used for identification of dealers registered under VAT.
Service Tax:
- Service Tax No : that is the Service Tax No
- Service Range : that is the Service Range as defined under Commissionarate.
Excise:
- ECC No : that is the Excise Control Code (ECC) Number. It is a registration number, issued to all the Central Excise Assessees.
- Excise Range : that is the Excise Range as defined under Commissionarate.
Following indicators are provided for consideration under Excise.- SEZ/LUT
- SEZ/Export
- Export/Bond
- Home Clearance
- Export/LUT
- Export/Rebate
- Inter Unit Transfer
- SEZ/Bond
Import/Export
- IEC Code : that is the Importer Exporter Code
Applicable Services
For the purpose of Service Tax Reporting, there is a separate tab under "Statutory Details" tab that captures different types of services.
- Taxable Service : It displays the ST Code List.
- Service Provider: Select this checkbox if this organization is the provider of this service.
- Service Receiver: Select this checkbox if this organization is in turn the receiver of this particular service.
Business Partner
An additional tab has been added to the business partner window to capture additional business partner details for Indian Finances purposes.
To check this, follow the steps as under:
1. Login as the Administrator of your Client.
2. Go to Master Data Management -> Business Partner or just type "Business Partner" in the "Quick Launch" window.
3. Select a business partner and go to "Partner Additional Fields" tab.
4. Multiple Tax Details for Business Partners can be configured based on Location.
The information captured for Business Partner is similar to that captured for an organization.
For a business partner the following two additional fields are captured:
- Business Partner Type: this defines the type of business partner. The options available are:
- Dealer
- Manufacturer
- Dealer
- This is required for reporting purposes.
- Local Sales Tax Number: this one indicates the Local Sales Tax Number for the business partner.
- Most of the states in India now have TIN number, however there are few states that still use Local Sales Tax Number. therefore the Local Sales Tax Number can be captured for those Indian states that required it.
Product
New fields have been added to the product window to capture information related to Excise and VAT at product level.
To check this, follow steps as under:
1. Login as the Admin of your client.
2. Go to Master Data Management -> Product or just type "Product" in the "Quick Launch" window.
3.On the product window following fields are added:
VAT Commodity Code required for E-Sugam filing. All the codes defined in the VAT Commodity Code window are displayed here.
Excise: If the organization is into manufacturing, the following fields are provided to classify the product for Excise duty purposes:
- Excise Category , the chapter numbers defined in the Excise Category window are displayed here
- Chapter Sub Heading, the subheadings that correspond to the Excise Category or Heading are displayed in this drop-down list
Excise Category
As per Indian Government Taxation standards, if a client or an organization is into manufacturing, then based on the type of the parts, they can be classified under a particular Chapter and Subheading regarding Excise. Besides, based on the type of products, Indian Government has defined approximately 100 Excise Categories or Chapters and their Chapter Sub-headings.
Those ones can be reviewed in a the "Excise Category" window once the Excise dataset is applied as explained here.
Additionally, new ones can be created as described below:
You must be logged in with an Admin role to be able to set up excise categories.
- From the menu, select Financial Management -> India Localization -> Master Data -> Excise Category or just type Excise Category in Quick Launch window.
- Click New Record.
- From the Organization drop down, select the organization for which the excise category will be available. To make the excise category available in all organizations, select *.
- In the Search Key field, type a keyword that will be used to search for this excise category.
- In the Name field, type the name of the excise category.
- In the Description field, type a description of the category, if required.
- To make the excise category active (so it will be visible and available for selection in Openbravo) select the Active checkbox.
- To make this excise category the default, select the Default category.
- Click Save
To define Subheading for the Excise Category follow the steps as under:
- Select the Excise Category for which Subheading is to be defined.
- In the Name field, type the name of the chapter Subheading.
- In the Description field, type a description of the subheading, if required.
- To make the subheading active (so it will be visible and available for selection in Openbravo) select the Active checkbox.
- To make this subheading the default, select the Default category.
- Click Save
Commissionarate
For each zone in a state, a Commissionerate is defined. The main purpose of Commissionerate is to ensure that all the grievances and queries regarding the tax payments are addressed.
The tax payments have to be made under this Commissionerate.
So based on the Organization's location, a Commissionerate will be defined. This new window allows the user to set up a Commissionerate for his/her organization.
You must be logged in with an Admin role to be able to set up excise categories.
- From the menu, select Financial Management -> India Localization -> Master Data -> Commissionerate or just type Commissionerate in Quick Launch window.
- Click New Record.
- From the Organization dropdown list, select the organization for which the commissionerate is to be defined. To define the commissionerate for all organizations, select *.
- In the Name field, type the name of the commissionerate.
- In the Description field, type a description of the commissionerate if required.
- To make the commissionerate Active (so it will be visible and available for selection in Openbravo) select the Active checkbox.
- Select the Country and State for which this commissionerate is defined.
- If this commissionerate is defined for Excise Duty purposes,select Is Excise checkbox. If the checkbox is not selected, it indicates that the commissionerate is defined for service tax.
- Click Save
For each Commissionerate, one or more divisions can be defined:
- Select the Commissionerate for which Division has to be created.
- From the Organization dropdown, select the organization for which the the division is to be defined.
- In the Name field, type the name of the division.
- In the Description field, type a description of the division if required.
- To make the division Active (so it will be visible and available for selection in Openbravo) select the Active checkbox.
- Click Save
Finally, for each Division, one or more ranges can be defined:
- Select the Division for which Range has to be created.
- From the Organization dropdown, select the organization for which the the range is to be defined.
- In the Name field, type the name of the range.
- In the Description field, type a description of the range if required.
- To make the range Active (so it will be visible and available for selection in Openbravo) select the Active checkbox.
- Click Save
ST Code List
Once the Service Tax reference data is applied as described here, this window displays the list of commonly used Service Tax Codes used in Indian Tax Calculations.
Additionally, the user can also add new Service Tax Code to the existing list. The way to do that is explained below.
You must be logged in with a Client Admin role to be able to set up service tax codes.
- From the menu, select Financial Management -> India Localization -> Service Tax -> Setup -> ST Code List or just type ST Code List in Quick Launch window.
- Click New Record.
- From the Organization dropdown, select the organization for which the service tax code will be available. To make the service code available in all organizations, select *.
- In the Service Code field, type the service tax code.
- In the Service Name field, type the name of the service tax code.
- To make the service tax code Active (so it will be visible and available for selection in Openbravo) select the Active checkbox.
- Click Save
