Projects:On-Screen-Help/Functional Specification

On-Screen-Help - Functional Specifications

The purpose of this project is to improve the user experience in Openbravo by adding on-screen help to fields in addition to the Help page that open in a separate tab.

To make openbravo more user friendly by making help information available in context.

This will only work in form view for standard views. We will not remove the existing help page.

Design Considerations

Help should be available quickly and as unobtrusive as possible. The help information should be context based, so that the user only sees the information he needs at the time he needs it.

All users would find such help useful.

Functional Requirements

When a user hovers over a field label, both the description and the help/comment field for that field should be displayed, provided they are not empty.

User roles & profiles

On-screen help should be available to all users in all roles.

Business process definition

Not tied to any business process.

User stories

When the user opens a screen and needs to know the meaning of a specific field, he can hover over that field and read it's description and help content.
