Projects:Retail Modules In High Volume Environments

Contents

Introduction

As part of the enabling of the OB Retail solution for high volume environments the goal of this project is to identify, validate and test modules for their suitability in high volume customer situations.

The 2015Q4 release of the OB Retail solution is able to operate in high volume environments with millions of products, business partners and 1000+ tickets/minute.

A main characteristic of the OB Retail solution in high volume environments is that products and business partners are not loaded into the client side database.

Product and business partner information is loaded on demand when a user searches or scans a products or searches for a business partner.

This concept is called remote datasources.

This characteristic of remote access to Product/BP information will probably have consequences for several modules, currently expecting this information to be present in the local web client db.

The work on this project started in the 2015Q4 development cycle and will continue into the 2016Q1 cycle as new modules are added/being used in the specific customer projects.
