Talk:How to Manage Attributes And Attribute Sets

Contents

Overall feedback

This How To is pretty well explained.
I've rephrased a little bit "Objective" section. Please take a look.

It's fine Galderromo 13:29, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

In the objective section you are explaining "instance" attributes and non "instance attributes" which is perfectly fine as those type are the ones Openbravo handles.

Therefore execution steps should be split in two sections, one section focus in colour and size as you have already done and the other one in Lot and Serial number. Even more, for me it is less intuitive how lot and serial number work in Openbravo. I'll put an example of each of them from beginning to end, explaining clearly what can be done in Openbravo and what can not be done.

--Psanjuan 10:31, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

On my opinion, this should be included in a different howto. This howto is about attributes. Lots and serial numbers are managed on different windows. This is, from a Openbravo point of view, attributes and lots/serial numbers are different. Just my opinion, if you still think lots and serial numbers must be included on this howto let me know.

Agree, let's plan for a new How To related to Instance Attributes.
The only thing for us to do is to make clear that this articles is not focused on lot and serial attributes. Done. --Psanjuan 10:56, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

I've rephrased a little bit this section and I have removed the link to Functional Specifications.

Execution Steps

Please split this section into sub-steps, otherwise it is not clear what the different steps are in this process.

Done. Galderromo 12:59, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

I've rephrase this section a little bit. Please take a look. --Psanjuan 12:25, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

It's fine. Galderromo 12:59, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

sub-section 1 Attribute & Attribute Set set up

Can you explain what a mandatory attribute means?

I'd add mandatory, when??

Done. Galderromo 13:43, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Do not use "We will.." "You will..." but "The company in this example needs to...."

Regarding to below paragraph which I've rephrased a little bit:

As last configuration step an attribute set needs to be be created.
An attribute set is a combination of attributes, once created can be assigned to the products, therefore every time the product is managed, that means purchased or sold, Openbravo will ask for every attribute value of the attribute set.

It's fine. Galderromo 13:43, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

I would explain that an attribute set can be a combination of attributes or just a single attribute.

Done. Galderromo 13:43, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Besides attributes as such are not assigned to products but attributes combination. Please explain that better within the context.

--Psanjuan 11:23, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

It is explained on Product creation section. Galderromo 13:43, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Remove below sentence from the explanation of Colour-Size attribute set and it is confusing and move it and properly explain it as part of the subsection talking about the Lot-Serial N attribute set.

--Psanjuan 11:35, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

I have removed. I agree is a bit confusing. Related to my prior comment, it makes sense for me a new howto for serial and lot use.

New Feedback:

(1) Attribute Set creation: ¿can we explain if the field "Expiration Date" is used somehow later on?

--Psanjuan 11:38, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

sub-section 2 Product creation

Please be more explicit here by saying something like:

There are some meaningful fields to take into account while creating a product with an attribute set:

New Feedback:

(2) Can you please take a look to this section as I've rephrased it a little bit??

do we have any information about the other options in the field "Use attribute set value as"

--Psanjuan 11:39, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

sub-section 3 Product Management

In the sentence below describe how those values can be changed :

"It is mandatory, as defined above, to register Colour and Size per each good receipt line.
Although Green and Large values are shown by default, as those are the default attribute set values, both values can be changed to Red and Medium by just ...."

I would add very briefly what would be the process while stocking the goods/shirts, you can explain that in the section where the shirts are received and the same for when those shirts are sold.

--Psanjuan 11:49, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Done Galderromo 13:24, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Finally it is important to show the same workflow in case of "instance Attributes".

--Psanjuan 11:50, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

I personally think is a better option to include this instanciable attributes on a serial number and lot how to. Attributes are never instanciable, attribute sets can be instanciables if lots or serial numbers are included.

Galderromo 14:02, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

New Feedback:

(3) it is not clear to me the last part of below setence:
"Although Green and Large values are shown by default, as those are the default attribute set values, both values can be changed to Red and Medium for instance, by just adding new values to those attributes."

I think we should explain how, by using the magnifying glass and get into a new window which allows to select the attributes, right?

--Psanjuan 11:42, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

(4) last and in relation to the sentence below:
"The process will be similar when shipping our shirts to our customers. Same dialogs will be shown and same information will be required. Additionally, when taking out product, Openbravo will validate existence of stock on the warehouse. "

I will elaborate a little bit more, add a link to the window Goods Shipment

Please explain where Openbravo validates the stock of a product having a given attribute while shipping or selling..
