Product
Definition
Products are one of the three crucial aspects of data management in Openbravo (the other two are Business Partners and Price Lists). Products can be purchased, sold, in production, or stored.
Process Information
- Products weights, quantities of units per box, boxes per pallet, and units per pallet, can all be defined.
- If the product is stored, the position in the warehouse is defined; if it is being produced, the desired production plan is selected.
- If the product is stored it defines the position in warehouse by default and if it is of production the user can choose in which production plan the change takes place.
- The product can have a set of attributes that are defined in the product attributes window.
- In attributes product properties are defined. These attributes can be used to differentiate products within the same family. With these attributes the product must be defined and differentiated from other.
- Some attributes can have predefined values. These values also need to be introduced, and can be a number or a short text.
- Once defined the attribute sets of attributes are defined. These sets are unique to each product family and the different combinations from their values makeup the differentiation of products within the family.
- Cost Type: Standard or average, indicates how the cost of the product is calculated.
- Standard – fixed costs indicated in the standard cost field
- Average – cost calculated and adjusted each time more of a certain product enters the system (at potentially a new cost), and can be observed in the cost tab of the product window.
Each of the subsequent sections relates to a tab located in the Product window.
Purchasing
Tab
Allows the user to define data regarding the product purchase: supplier, warehouse, minimum quantity requests, lead time, etc. The user can also rank suppliers for quality.
Costing
Tab
The user can see the stock level of a selected product. The application automatically calculates the product price based on costs and accumulated quantities.
Price
Tab
The user can define price lists and sales prices. They can add, remove, or move products from one price list to another. A product can have distinct price lists for different partners.
Process Information
The same information can be defined in another window by following Price Lists > Price Lists Tab.
There are three types of prices:
- List Price – Catalog price, established by suppliers
- Standard Price- Indicated the final product price. This is more often than not, the applied price.
- Limit Price – Indicates a lowest possible price that could be applied for the established product
Transactions
Tab
The user can see all movements related to a specific product (purchases, sales, warehouse movements, etc.).
Bill of Materials
Definition
Bill of Materals lists products which are assembled from other products.
